Does Lily Allen have a brother called Alfie?
Lily Allen has a song called Alfie on her album and in this song she sings about how Alfie is her brother and he smokes too much weed etc etc... Anyone know if it%26#039;s true!?
Does Lily Allen have a brother called Alfie?
Allen was born in Hammersmith, London. She eventually settled in the North London borough of Islington. She has an older sister, Sarah; a younger brother, Alfie Owen-Allen (who was the subject of her song %26quot;Alfie%26quot;); and a number of half-siblings, including her new baby half-sister, Teddie. Lily has also lived with her mother in Leixlip, County Kildare, Ireland (where she went to Scoil Bhride, a local primary school).
Reply:Yes he is called Alfie Owen Allen and he is younger than her. She also has an older sister called Sarah
Reply:yes
Reply:yep it%26#039;s true. i love lily allen. she is so talented and i can%26#039;t wait to get her album when it comes out in the states later this month.
Reply:Yup its true. Alfie is her half brother. (her dads son with another woman)
Reply:Yes... she talked about him on Jonathan Ross on Radio 2

Calla lily?
I have a calla lily plant, and I am growing it indoors. Recently all of the yellow blossoms died, and I was told this was normal due to the %26quot;dormant%26quot; period the plant is going through. However, now the leaves are beginning to turn yellow. What should I be doing to keep my plant alive? I water it regularly, and give it as much sun as I can. Is it just too cold for it to survive right now? (I live in Montana)
Calla lily?
When calla lilies go dormant, this means that not only do the blooms stop, but the leaves die back as well. This is normal in the life cycle of the plant. Store the rhizome (thick root similar to a bulb or a tuber, like an Easter lily or a dahlia) in a cool dark place until spring, and then replant it. It will come back even more beautiful than before.
Reply:Just cut it all the way back %26amp; look forward to a healthy plant after its dormancy
Reply:Calla Lilys grow in Mediterranean climates (like the Monterrey coast in California), they do not like the cold. You may need to move it to a warmer place inside your house, if it is near a window then move it away from the window because windows have drafts.
Reply:Normal growth pattern for bulbs. Flowers die back, leaves nourish the bulb til dormant period then die back. You can leave it in the pot if you like, reduce watering, in the spring it will sprout again.
Reply:they look nice in a wedding
Reply:Keep it away from drafts and when U water it use warm water-and maybe during the dormant period cut back on too much water but do slip it a little fertilizer every now and again.... Good Luck!
Reply:this is also a tropical plant and needs to be kept away from cold drafts.

Peace lily repotting?
I was given a peace lily in smallish pot (about 12%26#039; diameter), about a year ago. It lives usally in my dorm room and sometimes i admittedly go a while without watering it, i usually wait to see some drooping to water it as to not overwater. The tips do go brownish but thought this may be from the chlorine they put in our water. It has recently just sprouted about 5 flowers, and is very bushy. other than that nothing special, i never fertilize or anything like that.
However i want my plant to get very big so i was thinking about transplanting it to a bigger pot with new soil. Will this cause it to get bigger? Or will it do more harm than good. I was planning to get a very big pot so i dont have to transplant for a few years.
Peace lily repotting?
I have grown many peace lilies. It%26#039;s easy to repot just don%26#039;t get a pot too big, about 2-4 inches bigger. Put new potting soil in leaving about 3 inches in bottom. when you remove plant put the tight roots out a little so they can spread. Yes this will help the plant get bigger.
I hope this helps
Reply:Peace lilies will get as big as the pot they are in. I want mine small, so I keep it in a small pot, my grandmother has a huge one, I would guess the pot is appx 2ft. the lily grew to take up the entire pot.
If you%26#039;re concerned about over watering, get a pot with a reservoir at the bottom and put the water there. When it dries up, add more water.

How this flower and I became acquainted is really a story of second choice. I came into our class of
%26quot;Knowing Nature%26quot; (otherwise known as sociology 309) with little knowledge of what we were in for
during the semester. As I found out we were developing web pages, yes the one you are now reading.
Our goal was to find a prairie flower, grass, weed, etc. that really sparked our interest or called out to us.
As it so happens I originally chose another plant as my topic, but it so turns out that that one was already
taken. That is how the prairie lily and I got to know one another for the first time. I had never heard of or
seen the prairie lily prior to my experience in class or if I had it went unnoticed. Reading about the lily I
have learned a lot of interesting and unique information. As I have gotten to know this plant and it%26#039;s
history better I am glad that I had the opportunity to share the prairie Lilly%26#039;s story with you. I hope that
viewing this web page and the story of the Prairie Lily will spark an interest in you, not only to learn more
about this plant but other prairie plants as well.

PLANT DESCRIPTION
WOOD LILIES GROW 1 TO 3 FEET HIGH FROM PERENNIAL BULBS. BULBS ARE ABOUT 1 INCH IN DIAMETER. FLOWERS 1 TO 3 IN A TERMINAL CLUSTER, WITH 3 SEPALS AND 3 PETALS. THELANCEOLATE LEAVES, 1 TO 4 INCHES LONG AND ABOUT 1/4 TO 1/2 INCH WIDE, AND NARROWED AT BOTH ENDS. RED-ORANGE ,UPRIGHT, TERMINAL, OPEN BELL SHAPED FLOWER WITH ONE TO FIVE BLOOMS.
THE FLOWERS USUALLY HAVE PURPLISH SPOTS ON THE LOWER PARTS OF THE INNER SIDE, AND TAPER TO NARROW , STALK LIKE BASES. INSIDE THE FLOWER ARE SIX PROMINENT, ERECT STAMENS SURROUNDING A CENTRAL STYLE.
PROPAGATION
THESE PLANTS ARE DIFFICULT TO ESTABLISH AND HAVE A SHORT LIFE SPAN. THEY ARE NEVER FOUND LONG IN THE SAME PLACE. BEST BY DIVISION OF OFFSET SCALES PLANTED 1 INCH DEEP. NEED TO OBTAIN THE SCALES AFTER THE PLANT DIES BACK IN THE FALL. MUCH OF THE EARLY GROWTH OCCURS UNDERGROUND, AND VERY LITTLE STALK DEVELOPMENT OCCURS WHILE THE PLANTS ARE YOUNG. YOU SHOULD PLANT SEVERAL PLANTS TOGETHER BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT CROSS-POLLINATION IS NECESSARY FOR REPRODUCTION. THEY ARE ADAPTABLE ONCE ESTABLISHED. ADDING COMPOST TO THE SOIL IS VERY BENEFICIAL TO THE SURVIVAL OF THESE PLANTS. WILD LILIES GROWN FROM SEED WILL ONLY PRODUCE ONE LEAF THEIR FIRST YEAR AND WILL TAKE AN ADDITIONAL YEAR TO BLOOM.
GERMINATION
THE WOOD LILY IS VERY EASY TO GERMINATE BUT TAKES A LONG TIME. THE PLANTS EARLY LIFE IS UNDERGROUND, PRODUCING ONLY 1 MONOCOTYLEDON LEAF THE FIRST YEAR. PLANTING SHOULD BE DONE IN THE FALL OR TO STORE THE SEED AT 35 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT UNTIL SPRING. FOR THIS PLANT TO GROW IT NEEDS STRATIFICATION 33 - 38 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT FOR 60 DAYS.

HABITAT AND DISTRIBUTION
HABITAT
Found throughout the tallgrass prairie and in open woods and thickets east to Maine, south to Kentucky and West Viginia. In spite of its name, the wood lily is often found in the prairie biome, especially the tallgrass prairie region. It prefers the more acid and sandy soils. Additional varieties extend the range to the West Coast.
RANGE
Wide spread in Southern Canada and NorthEastern United States, hence West to British Columbia and South to Illinois, Nebraska and New Mexico.

Calla lily care?
We have a calla lily in a pot indoors but the leaves and staems are drooping. We%26#039;ve only had it about a week, so I wouldn%26#039;t expect it to die yet. Any one know whether it%26#039;s meant to be kept in sunlight or shade, cut back or left to grow or what? Help please!!
Calla lily care?
I keep mine by the window. They get full sunlight all morning. They like water, just don%26#039;t drown them. I have never had a need to cut them back.
After the calla lily blooms, it will go into remission. The leaves and stems will droop and turn brown. Let it. When it%26#039;s full %26quot;dead%26quot; looking, cut off any remaining leaves and store the whole pot in a dark place for about 6-8 months.
When the lily is ready, it will start to grow. When this happens, bring it out into the sun and let it grow!
Reply:The proper name is Zantedeschia aethiopica and there are different varieties with various colours of flowers. If it%26#039;s the white one, it needs to be outside away from artificial heating as it is quite hardy. You can plant as a marginal by a pond or anywhere else if you don%26#039;t have a pond. It is very easy and will tolerate most conditions except being dry. Mine is just stuck in bottom of the garden in poor but pretty moist soil and does really well. Give it a shovelful of manure or rich compost every couple of years or, if it%26#039;s in the pond don%26#039;t bother. Hope that helps.
Reply:Calla lilies are really meant to be outdoor plants. They can take some sun, but like afternoon shade. They like moist, almost boggy soil. Needs year round moisture!!
If you don%26#039;t get snow, you can plant it outside. Otherwise, keep it in a pot and bring inside in the winter. If planted outside, it will multiply by both rhizomes and seeds.
Good Luck!!

If you don%26#039;t get snow, you can plant it outside. Otherwise, keep it in a pot and bring inside in the winter. If planted outside, it will multiply by both rhizomes and seeds.
Good Luck!!

Peace lily division...?
i want to divide a peace lily to make more of them, how do i go about doing this without killing them both? and once they are divided into 2 pots, how should i take care of them?
Peace lily division...?
a peace lilly can be divided almost any time. Remove the palnt from it%26#039;s container, lay it on its side and split the plant in equal parts using a hatchet or large knife to split. Plant seperate plants in a good potting mixture for indoor plants and water well. in a couple weeks you shoud have new leaves sprouting. Place outside in the shade or indoors next to a window that recieves bright sun light but not direct sunlight. Keep soil moist .
