Does Lily Allen have a brother called Alfie?
Lily Allen has a song called Alfie on her album and in this song she sings about how Alfie is her brother and he smokes too much weed etc etc... Anyone know if it%26#039;s true!?

Calla lily?
I have a calla lily plant, and I am growing it indoors. Recently all of the yellow blossoms died, and I was told this was normal due to the %26quot;dormant%26quot; period the plant is going through. However, now the leaves are beginning to turn yellow. What should I be doing to keep my plant alive? I water it regularly, and give it as much sun as I can. Is it just too cold for it to survive right now? (I live in Montana)

When calla lilies go dormant, this means that not only do the blooms stop, but the leaves die back as well. This is normal in the life cycle of the plant. Store the rhizome (thick root similar to a bulb or a tuber, like an Easter lily or a dahlia) in a cool dark place until spring, and then replant it. It will come back even more beautiful than before.

Peace lily repotting?
I was given a peace lily in smallish pot (about 12%26#039; diameter), about a year ago. It lives usally in my dorm room and sometimes i admittedly go a while without watering it, i usually wait to see some drooping to water it as to not overwater. The tips do go brownish but thought this may be from the chlorine they put in our water. It has recently just sprouted about 5 flowers, and is very bushy. other than that nothing special, i never fertilize or anything like that.
However i want my plant to get very big so i was thinking about transplanting it to a bigger pot with new soil. Will this cause it to get bigger? Or will it do more harm than good. I was planning to get a very big pot so i dont have to transplant for a few years.

How this flower and I became acquainted is really a story of second choice. I came into our class of
%26quot;Knowing Nature%26quot; (otherwise known as sociology 309) with little knowledge of what we were in for

Our goal was to find a prairie flower, grass, weed, etc. that really sparked our interest or called out to us.

THESE PLANTS ARE DIFFICULT TO ESTABLISH AND HAVE A SHORT LIFE SPAN. THEY ARE NEVER FOUND LONG IN THE SAME PLACE. BEST BY DIVISION OF OFFSET SCALES PLANTED 1 INCH DEEP. NEED TO OBTAIN THE SCALES AFTER THE PLANT DIES BACK IN THE FALL. MUCH OF THE EARLY GROWTH OCCURS UNDERGROUND, AND VERY LITTLE STALK DEVELOPMENT OCCURS WHILE THE PLANTS ARE YOUNG. GERMINATION
THE WOOD LILY IS VERY EASY TO GERMINATE BUT TAKES A LONG TIME. THE PLANTS EARLY LIFE IS UNDERGROUND, PRODUCING ONLY 1 MONOCOTYLEDON LEAF THE FIRST YEAR. PLANTING SHOULD BE DONE IN THE FALL OR TO STORE THE SEED AT 35 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT UNTIL SPRING. FOR THIS PLANT TO GROW IT NEEDS STRATIFICATION 33 - 38 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT FOR 60 DAYS.

Calla lily care?
We have a calla lily in a pot indoors but the leaves and staems are drooping. We%26#039;ve only had it about a week, so I wouldn%26#039;t expect it to die yet. Any one know whether it%26#039;s meant to be kept in sunlight or shade, cut back or left to grow or what? Help please!!

I keep mine by the window. They get full sunlight all morning. They like water, just don%26#039;t drown them. I have never had a need to cut them back.
After the calla lily blooms, it will go into remission. The leaves and stems will droop and turn brown. Let it. When it%26#039;s full %26quot;dead%26quot; looking, cut off any remaining leaves and store the whole pot in a dark place for about 6-8 months.
When the lily is ready, it will start to grow. When this happens, bring it out into the sun and let it grow!
Reply:The proper name is Zantedeschia aethiopica and there are different varieties with various colours of flowers. If it%26#039;s the white one, it needs to be outside away from artificial heating as it is quite hardy. You can plant as a marginal by a pond or anywhere else if you don%26#039;t have a pond. It is very easy and will tolerate most conditions except being dry. Mine is just stuck in bottom of the garden in poor but pretty moist soil and does really well. Give it a shovelful of manure or rich compost every couple of years or, if it%26#039;s in the pond don%26#039;t bother. Hope that helps.

i want to divide a peace lily to make more of them, how do i go about doing this without killing them both? and once they are divided into 2 pots, how should i take care of them?

Calla Lily Question?
I have a calla lily that is entering its rest period (I think). All the flowers are dying, but the leaves still look great. My question is whether or not I continue watering it, giving it sun, etc, because I had one person say to take it out of its pot and put it in a closet, and others say just to take care of it like a normal plant? Canna lily seeds?
I collected canna lily seeds this week. They appear after the blooms fall off. You must wait until the pods turn black and you see openings over the seeds. I soak my seeds for a couple of days before planting. We live in the south and it is only the middle of July. Our soil is still hot, we can plant these new seeds now. Otherwise we would wait until next spring when the soil warms.

As an aside, do not purchase a plant or tree from a website unless you know their reputation!! Find a Nursery, not a box-store, that deals with Full-Time Landscape Contractors for the plants that grow in your area.

I used MS Paint to change the color of Rachel York%26#039;s (An amazing singer who I believe is currently touring with %26#039;Camelot%26#039;. It is from her website www.rachelyork.net) eyes. I made them emerald green because I thought she looked like Lily (Harry Potter%26#039;s mom), only she had blue eyes.

Anybody else sick of these Kate Nash/Lily Allen comparisons?
It seems to me that as soon as Kate Nash came into the attention of the mainstream, the media cannot let her be an artist in her own right.
And just because Lily Allen is also a singer-songwriter from London, they have to be compared.
Just lazy journalism, and it appears that a lot of people have eaten it.
What is Kate supposed to do? NOT have a music career of her own just because Lily Allen got there first, so to speak?
That is just complete and utter garbage. In any case, they ARE different. Kate plays her own instruments, whilst Lily for the main part uses a backing band and/or samples. Lily feels the need to slag everyone off all the time, whilst Kate is very polite, something I can confirm having seen her on tour.
I just say leave them BOTH be, and let them enjoy their respective careers. And don%26#039;t judge one based on the success/failures of the other.

Why are my comets (goldfish) eating my lily pads?
I have had a fish pond and waterfall in front of my house for almost 10 years. It is stocked with comets and fantail goldfish, as well as a variety of plants, including water lilies with lily pads. For the entire time the fish have thrived and so have all of the plants. This season, however, I noticed that the fish have literally eaten all of the lily pads that reach the surface of the water, and the lilies no longer reach the top. My wife and daughter feed them with fish food occasionally, but they have done so for years, with no ill effects to the plants. Does anyone know why they are doing this? Otherwise, the pond water is clear and seems to be in fine shape..

Many fish will eat a certain amount of plant material but if they haven%26#039;t eaten the plants till now %26amp; they are the culprit, I would guess they are not getting enough food. BUT!!! I would check for snails first before giving extra food. As you know too much food can cloud up the water...

Fish manage pretty well on their own, but your plants will do better with fish food.

I have a total of 13 fish now and I feed mine two to three times a day in the warm weather. I give them what they will eat in 5 minutes and they are always very eager to see me come with the dinner tray. I say they are hungry....feed them. Mine don%26#039;t eat my lilies. Remember in %26quot;Gone with the Wind%26quot; that Scarlet was out in the old garden trying to dig up any root to eat? Well, if the food source is scarce, then they are going to find anything they can to eat and unfortunately for you it is your lilies.

The fish will also eat the blooms if they can. Good luck

the aphids on the waterlily pads and getting the leaves also, from what ive heard from other pond keepers this summer, the aphids seem to be worse with the extreme temps weve been having

Lily, my cat is ripping her hair out, whyyyyyyyyyyyy?
This past summer Lily had a few fleas. I used Front Line, she has had multiple baths in the past six months. Pretty sure she doesn%26#039;t have any fleas left since she also doesn%26#039;t have nearly as much of that beautiful long hair left either. She is no longer allowed to sleep in my room because her constant itching and twitching keeps me awake at night. Any suggestions? Thanks, Tish

Find a Nursery, not a box-store, that deals with Full-Time Landscape Contractors for the plants that grow in your area.

She gets on another helicopter, and then you seen another one crash. You think Lily might be alive or dead? (I loved Lily, so I sure as hell hope she survived...lol)

I am learning about the plant kingdom in biology and I am a bit confused about something I have just come across. I read that pine needles have thick cuticles and sunken stomata to retain moisture. I have also read that Zebrina is a tropical plant and I know that the water lily is an aquatic plant.
At the end of our chapter it asks which of these 3 (pine, zebrina, water lily) has the thickest cuticle, middle, and thinnest. Can anyone help me out here? I don%26#039;t understand what the answer would be and searching the web is not helping.
